WiFi Comes to The Sequoias
One of the greatest joys in life is sharing – as you give, you receive. Yet one of the greatest disappointments for people who can no longer travel to family events due
to health issues, is the desire to participate when they physically just can’t do it. Here’s where the WiFi comes in and we tip our hat to Facilities Director, Ray Boudewyn, for implementing this technology in the “A” level and Health Center at The Sequoias-San Francisco.
Now, family and friends can bring their laptops and share pictures and videos with their loved right at their bedside. Their parent or grandparent, too, can “virtually” experience the birth of a grandchild, a wedding, graduation, birthday or other event that took place anywhere in the world. Imagine the joy and bond that ability creates, the hope it inspires.
We also are providing thumb drives to family members who wish to download information from their computers at home to share in the new televisions that soon will arrive at their bedsides. You can also bring your own Ipod or camera and download directly into the televisions. Larger screens with DVD players allows for a greatly enhanced viewing experience for family and resident alike. You can sit with your parent/grandparent and view family movies, pictures or just a good Netflix video that you love. Time it for a Friday evening and you can run downstairs and get some fresh, hot popcorn to complete the moment!
In addition, our Nursing department will be able to download health education and nutritional information according to residents’ needs. WiFi opens up an entire new learning component that expands beyond the WiFi capability.
And for those who are simply visiting and are mainly in the public areas of The Sequoias on the “A” level, you, too can now catch up on e-mail and even do business over the internet if need be.
In all cases we do require that a disclaimer be signed by the user. These are found at the Nursing Station in the Health Center and at “G” level reception. Please sign and return to “G” level reception.
